Assembly Guide

This guide documents the build of the OpenVVVF control module, chapter by chapter, in the order the physical assembly is performed. Chapters are published as each build phase is documented, so this index grows alongside the physical unit.

Chapters

Read the preparation chapter first: it covers the workspace, equipment, and parts verification every board build depends on.

1. Preparation - workspace, equipment, and parts verification before any soldering.
2. IO Board Assembly - populate and solder the control module IO board.
3. Gate Driver Assembly - populate and solder the control module gate driver board.
4. Control Board Assembly - populate and solder the main control board.
5. Control Module Test Fit - dry-fit the populated boards, standoffs, and connectors before final assembly.

Planned build order

The physical build proceeds in roughly this order, and chapters follow it:

1. Preparation - workspace, ESD setup, equipment, and parts verification
2. IO board population
3. Gate driver board population
4. Control board population
5. Control module test fit
6. Control module assembly and test (planned, chapter forthcoming)
